Marching band to compete in Louisville Regional

The marching band will compete at the Louisville Bands of America (BOA) Regional on Sept. 25.

According to Andy Cook, associate director of bands, the Louisville Regional is one of several smaller competitions leading up to the marching band’s largest event, BOA Grand Nationals, in November.

“(The competition) is through Bands of America, which hosts competitions throughout the country,” he said. “The biggest one is Grand Nationals in November.”

According to Emily Reidy, a member of the marching band’s clarinet section and junior, the marching band will only play part of its program at Louisville.

She said, “Right now, we only have the first and second movements ready for our next competition, but we’ll be adding more to it for later events.”

“For Louisville, we’ll only be playing for about seven minutes,” Cook said. “By November, we’ll have the whole eight and a half minutes of our program ready.” By Caroline Zhang <[email protected]>
