Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) is scheduled to have its next meeting after school on Sept. 23, continuing its schedule of meeting every other Thursday.
Horner said this meeting would contain a discussion of events that transpired over the summer, one of which is the recent overturning of Proposition 8. The scheduled meetings on Oct. 7 and 21 will contain a discussion about the school climate and stereotyping, respectively.
According to Horner, the GSA call-out meeting had the biggest turnout in two years.
“We’ve got a good group of officers who want to do things differently. There is potential for this club to really change things,” Horner said.
Grace Woerner, president of GSA, said she hopes that the club will be able to have a guest speaker come to CHS to talk about some of the issues Gay-Straight Alliance discusses this year.
“The Gay-Straight Alliance helps promote a safe environment for people who have different sexual orientations. People should join because it’s for a really good cause,” Woerner said. By Tony Tan <[email protected]>
