TechHOUNDS begins fifth week of building season

TechHOUNDS members begin their fifth week of the six weeks of the building season despite the closing of school for three days straight due to the weather. The team, according to Ryan Wilmes, TechHOUNDS team leader, is almost done with the drive train project. The team members have worked on the elevator, pieces that pick up tubes and a minibot.

“We were hurt by the snow days, but it looks like we’ll finish in time,” Wilmes said.

Other than the three snow days, Wilmes said that other challenges were present, such as a company sending in wrong parts for the project. However, Wilmes said that he is optimistic and believes that the team will continue to make much progress.

George Giltner, TechHOUNDS club sponsor, agreed with Wilmes.

“We still have a lot of work to do, but we just have to make the work up,” Giltner said. “Some students are gonna have to come in before school and practices.”

Giltner said that although the team has and is continuing to make progress, he will not be completely satisfied until the team members are done with the building season.

“We’re not the only team that suffered this storm,” Giltner said. “So we’re just going to have to continue on and do our best.” By David Choe
