Senate plans a blood drive

Senate is planning a blood drive along with many other spring events.

“We are having a blood drive soon,” said Mason Yao, Senate member and junior. “This year we’re hoping to double the number of participants because there is a significant shortage of blood at the Indiana blood centers.”

According to Yao, the Senate aims to get 550 units of blood this year.

Brain Game and March Madness, two other spring events sponsored by the Senate, are coming to an end.”March Madness is dwindling to a close as April approaches and Brain Game is still going on as well,” Yao said. “It is projected to end by spring break.”
Yao said the Senate will also be adding a new event this spring. “We are also having a new event. I’ts a field day theme. We’ll have a day where teams will form and will participate in outdoor games and activities.”
Yao said that the event should take place around April 24 and no official name has been decided on yet.
According to Michelle Foutz, Senate sponsor and social studies teacher at this school, the proceeds of this new event will be benefiting a cause she said does not get enough exposure, but effects many people. “The purpose of the event was to raise money for melanoma research which is an issue close to our hearts [on Senate].”  By Mackenzie Madison <[email protected]>
