Homework Helpers to have next tutor session Dec. 11

Homework Helpers will have its next Carmel Elementary School tutoring session on Dec. 11, according to sponsor Susan Johnson.

During the tutoring sessions, the tutors help elementary school students with their homework and supervise them. The length of the tutoring sessions normally depends on the schedule that the after school program has, how much homework the students have and the schedules of the volunteers.

Although there will be no changes to Homework Helpers club this year, Johnson hopes to adjust some aspects of the club.

“We would like to expand to other schools, but right now we’re still just doing Carmel Elementary School,” Johnson said.

Co-president Abinand Rejimon said there are no preparations or prerequisites required for Homework Helpers.

“The material isn’t difficult. We just tutor basic subjects like math and English,” Rejimon said.

According to Johnson, students can join the club. However, they must complete an application and submit it to Carmel Parks and Recreation.
