The baseball team’s next game is a rescheduled game May 22 against Warren Central at 5:30 at Warren Central. This game comes after beating Warren Central on May 20 12-0 in five innings.
Daniel Roman, varsity baseball head coach, said via email, “We played well. We received a great pitching performance from Connor Cunningham. Seniors Evan Nixon and Tony Giannini had a great day at the plate. It was a good atmosphere being senior day. Every healthy senior played and contributed.”
Pitcher and junior Nick Maier said that the members of the team did a good job playing at “their level” of baseball.
After the second game against Warren Central tonight, the team will participate in the Greyhound Invitational starting May 23 at 6 p.m.
Roman said that it is an event with eight teams with each team guaranteed three games. He said the winners and losers brackets takes place on May 24.
At the invitational, Maier said, “(Fans) should expect us to come out and play with high energy and get on hot streak before (the Sectional).”
“I believe this team thrives on being the underdog. We need to be scrappy, loud and energetic. When we do this, we play for each other and lose ourselves within the team. We’re 16-5 now. An excellent record…but you’re only as good as the next game you play.”
