Student Tutor Connections, a free tutoring program for students, encourages more of the student body to come in during the first SRT of each week for help. The next meeting is Oct. 13. “We had about eight to ten kids each of our meetings,” Pedram Navid, co-president and senior, said. “Most kids usually just come in one time, and we are looking for more.”
The club does not require students who need help to come in every time, only the times they are in need of help. “Any student can come even if it is just one time for a test,” said Kris Hartman, club sponsor and counselor, said.
The club has around ten tutors, all who have B averages or above. Any student who comes in will be assigned to a tutor who has already passed the class in which the student needs help. Then they will help them individually until the student’s homework or studying is complete.
“The environment is not very formal and it is an easy setting,” Navid said. All teachers are allowed to write passes to the club, which meets in Room A210, the first SRT of each week. The club takes both sessions, but students can leave whenever their assignments are completed or when they are done studying. By Andrew Rhoad <[email protected]>
