Health Center reminds students of policies

According to school nurse Carol Gelatt, students need reminding on the policies of the health center, including the rules of needing a pass and not being allowed to carry medicine around.

“Well I think in your Carmel pathways on page 25 they talk about policies and guidelines for Carmel High School. When students come to the health center, they need a pass from their teacher; this just makes you accountable for where you’re at, a time in, and a time out. We enter all that information. Also students are not allowed to bring medications to school; we provide Tylenol and ibuprofen if we have parent authorization on file on your emergency medical card,” Gelatt said.

Freshman Mitch Slavin said he agrees on the matter.

He said, “It’s a pretty good policy, because people might try to sell types of drugs from their parents and the pharmacists. You should have a pass so people know where you go.” By Matt Barnthouse <[email protected]>
