At the beginning of the school year, the counseling center goes through a number of schedule changes. According to CHS counselor Casey Danubio, schedule changes pile up at the start of each new semester.
Danubio said, “There are always a lot of schedule changes at the beginning of each semester…The process to make a change includes a form that must be signed by the head of the department and it must indicate where the student wants to move to.”
Like others, sophomore Kevin Zhang switched classes for the semester.
Zhang said, “I was switched from AP Computer Science A to ACP Computer Science due to scheduling issues involving prerequisites.”
Zhang explains how it was a simple and easy transition.
“The process was extremely simple and involved almost no effort on my part which was really helpful,” Zhang said. “It was easy to integrate my new schedule because when I was notified by email, my counselor had already fixed my schedule for me.”
If a student needed help making an appointment with their counselor, Danubio indicates that the counseling canvas page is a place for students to find useful information.
“[In the counseling canvas page, a student can locate] college or career resources, Naviance, scheduling, social work, testing and how to contact your counselor or social worker,” Danubio said. “You can also find diploma requirements, the program of studies and more.”
Like Danubio, Zhang said, “The canvas page for counseling is very easy to navigate and self explanatory. It was also very simple and made scheduling a visit with counselors easier.”
