Media center to celebrate National Library Week, cancels Beach Read contest

The media center will celebrate National Library Week from April 12 to 16. In honor of the week, illustrator Lori McDonough is scheduled to speak to interested students on April 14 during SRT.

Media manager Francie Sands said, “We’re going to have an illustrator of a children’s book come in and she’s going to talk to students who are interested in writing a book about how they can get started.”

However, the media center decided to cancel the Beach Read contest, a contest it had planned to host in the weeks before spring break.

Sands said, “With spring break, everything was running too close together, so we decided not to do the Beach Read contest this year.”

According to Kelsey Campbell, media center student aide and senior, the media center also provides numerous resources and activities for students year-round.

Campbell said, “Students can study here, and we have computer resources, fiction and nonfiction books and equipment such as cameras for students to use.” By Caroline Zhang <[email protected]>
