Chess Club monthly blitz tournaments, T-shirt design contest to take place in November

Chess Club’s monthly blitz tournaments will start in November, and the video announcements will announce a design contest for the Chess Club T-shirt.

The monthly blitz tournaments are held on the first Monday of every month. According to club officer Sameer Manchanda, it is essentially speed chess. Each side gets five minutes for the game. New members are welcome.

Chess club planned to have tournament information Oct. 31.

Club officer Brian McDonald said via email, “We haven’t announced it really, so it will just be whoever shows up can play.”

“There are tournaments that a few of our members go to quite often that are not actually a part of chess club,” said McDonald.

He advises anyone interested to contact Manchanda, Kluttz or himself.

Chess club is also planning on hosting a design contest for the club T-shirts. Details for the contest will be announced on the video announcements.

Club officer Andrew Kluttz said, “Our T-shirt design contest is starting as soon as our video announcements go up, which should be very soon, and we plan on having designs due on Nov. 14.”

According to Kluttz, no other major events are scheduled to occur any time soon.

McDonald said, “Anybody with any questions can either contact one of us or show up to F103 on a Monday after school.”
