Members of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) are volunteering at a 5K walk on April 27, according to club vice president and junior Taylor Farmer. The volunteering is part of the FCCLA’s Helping Hand programs, which encourages club members to volunteer in the community. Club members are also volunteering at a children’s carnival the same day according to club sponsor Nancy Spencer.

Members of the club attended the FCCLA State Conference, which was March 7 to 9. Many members also competed in Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) events. Many achieved gold ratings, according to Farmer.

“We were very pleased by the outcome of the events, and we think that many of us will move on to Nationals,”  Aliya Malcom, vice president of communications and junior, said.

The club’s annual fundraiser, March of Dimes, is still scheduled for May 18, according to Farmer. “Now that we are finished with State, fundraising will get more focus,” he said.
