Senate members are taking care of last-minute details for the Gatsby party on Feb. 7, according to sponsor Michelle Foutz. They are also organizing Counselor Appreciation Week, which is from Feb. 3 to Feb. 7, and the Brain Game competition, which will begin on Feb. 27.
Among the tasks left to complete for the Gatsby party are setting up the photo booth, putting decorations together and finding chaperones, Foutz said. The dance will take place after the home basketball game on Feb. 7 until 11 p.m. in the fieldhouse, and the theme is The Great Gatsby. Students are expected to wear their 1920s apparel to the basketball game as well.
For Counselor Appreciation Week, Foutz said, senators have provided a breakfast for the counseling department and are putting up posters across the school.
Senate members are also getting ready to host the school’s annual Brain Game tournament, in which SRTs face off in a trivia competition. The competition is scheduled to start on Feb. 27, student body president George Gemelas said, and senators are currently compiling a list of competing SRTs. They hope to hold the finals on April 24, but they have yet to confirm that date with CHTV, which will air the finals match.
“(Brain Game) is on hold until we can get the finals official,” Gemelas said.
