The CHS performing arts department is preparing for the upcoming Holiday Spectacular, on Nov. 30, Dec. 1, Dec. 3, and Dec. 4 in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium. The show is at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4.
According to Director of Choirs Kathrine Kouns, this year’s theme is titled “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” a look at how holidays are celebrated all around the globe.
“It showcases how each country and part of the world is different in the way that they celebrate, and yet at the end, we all come together, and find the common links between all of our traditions and holidays. We chose this theme because it offered a wide variety of musical options and it’s something we haven’t done in the past,” she said.
Kouns said this year’s Holiday Spectacular will be very different from past performances.
“The show will have a different feel because each section will focus on a different part of the world. It will really feel like a global experience,” she said.
Frances Rafferty, Ambassadors member and senior, said, “I am definitely looking forward to this year’s Holiday Spectacular because of it’s message of the universality of seeking peace in our world while also celebrating each culture’s different ways of expressing joy during the holiday season. People should come and watch it specifically for that reason: to realize that we are more alike than we are different when it comes to our humanity.”
