Carmel Classic Invitational scheduled for Aug. 28

On Aug. 28 the men’s cross country team will host the Carmel Classic Invitational. The meet will take place at 9:30 a.m at Northview Christian Church.

The teams competing in the meet include Chesterton, Heritage Christian and Crispus Attucks.

After winning the Prep Invitational at Brebeuf on Aug. 21, the team is ranked fifth in the state. Head Coach Erhard “Doc” Bell said the team’s goal is to win this meet while continually improving its times.

He said, “My hope is that continued victories will increase the confidence of our runners as we progress to the State meet.” State is scheduled for Oct. 30.

Captain and senior Chris Walden will miss the meet because he is conducting a college recruiting visit. Walden said, “I expect sophomore Patrick “Pat” Appleton and sophomore Daniel Williams to lead the team.”

The team’s next meet is the Hamilton County meet on Aug. 31. The meet will be held at White River Elementary. By Reuben Warshawsky <[email protected]>
