Junior Ava Ehret, an equestrian for Burnett Farms, trains with her horse. Ehret said her sport takes up a significant amount of her free time. Ehret said, My whole school year (turned upside down) because I moved to a new barn. I’m gone for four hours after school; I get (out of school), get up there at 5 p.m. and get back at 9 p.m. So there’s just no time to do anything that’s not what I currently do, and to be honest, there’s no time for that either.”

Freshman Hannah Duong is on Naviance, learning more about the Skilled Trades Majors and Career Fair during SRT on April 16. The event is going to be held on April 24, to teach students about different career paths. “I want to explore more and figure out what I want to do,” Duong said.

Best Buddies to host Friendship Walk on April 14

Best Buddies is planning to host the club’s first Best Buddies Friendship Walk fundraiser on April 14, according to club sponsor Dana Lawrence. It is planned for the walk to take place downtown Carmel. Participants will be expected to walk for three miles.

“As we’re getting closer to the walk, we’re looking to start it at around 10 a.m. since it’s on a Sunday,” Lawrence said.

Lawrence said all proceeds will go Best Buddies to fund upcoming parties and chapter meetings. Details for pricing and transportation for members are not finalized yet.

Best Buddies will have its next chapter meeting during SRT in the fieldhouse on March 25. Crafts and games will be available to members and their buddies, according Abbey Wiggam, club member and sophomore.
